Thierry Neuville hasn’t given up on a maiden FIA World Rally Championship title despite conceding his chances look ‘complicated’ ahead of this week’s Rally Turkey (18 – 20 September).
The Belgian driver starts the gruelling Marmaris-based rally 37 points behind series leader Sébastien Ogier. He suffered a no-score at Rally Estonia earlier this month after ripping off a wheel on Saturday then suffering an electrical problem on Sunday’s Wolf Power Stage.
The Hyundai Motorsport pilot slipped to fifth in the points and is realistic about his championship chances, but pointed out that things can change quickly – especially on unpredictable rough rallies like Turkey.
“We have seen before that the situation can change pretty quickly,” said Neuville, “so we are going to keep on fighting. Everything looks more difficult and complicated now, but that’s part of the game and we know to live with that.
