WRC 3 title challenger Kajetan Kajetanowicz hasn’t given up on his dream of driving a World Rally Car at the highest level.
A drive in the FIA World Rally Championship’s headline category would be the crowning glory for the Polish star but, for now, his focus remains on returning to one of the WRC’s support series next season.
Kajetanowicz, one of three drivers in with a shot at this year’s WRC 3 title at next week’s ACI Rally Monza (3 – 6 December) finale, has driven a World Rally Car three times at the Rajd Barbórka event in his homeland. He posted straight wins in 2017, ’18 and ’19 aboard a Ford Fiesta World Rally Car.
“This is still in my dreams to drive a World Rally Car [in the WRC],” he said. “You know how it is, it’s not so easy to make this happen and maybe it stays only in my dreams. Driving the Fiesta [WRC] was fantastic, with 400bhp, such a good car to drive.
“For me, I focus my main motivation to fight in WRC 2 or WRC 3 next season. It’s not so easy trying to find sponsors at this difficult time, but I’m working on it.”
Kajetanowicz has been the WRC 3 form man on the last two rallies in Turkey and Italy, finishing first in Marmaris and second in Sardinia aboard his Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo.
“I love the fight,” he said. “I love this sport, the adrenalin it gives you – it’s hard for me to imagine my life without rallying and that’s why I keep pushing forwards. Let’s see what is possible for next season.”
