Jack Miller grabs fifth in dramatic Catalan GP

Jack Miller held on to finish a creditable fifth place, after an incident-packed Catalan Grand Prix saw the MotoGP Championship take a mid-season twist. Here is all you need to know:

– Miller got off to a flying start on his Ducati, leaping from fourth on the grid up to second. However, he lost track position going into turn 10.

– Andrea Dovizioso, who led the championship standings by a single point at the start of the weekend, saw his title challenge take a hit after a coming together with Johan Zarco on lap one left both Ducati riders out of the race.

– The race was won by Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha. It’s the Frenchman’s third win of the season and sees him take the lead in the overall standings.

– Miller held on to finish fifth, 3.391s off Quartararo’s pace. He fought off strong late challenges from Pecco Bagnaia and Honda’s Takaaki Nakagami, who put in another fine performance to finish seventh and further bolster his growing reputation.

– KTM picked up points through South Africa’s Brad Binder in 11th and Spanish rookie Iker Lecuona in 14th, but Pol Espargaró and Miguel Oliveira both slid out of the race in similar circumstances on Turn 2.

– Another reliable performace from Álex Márquez kept the family name on the board, taking two points for a P13 finish.
