FIA Junior WRC title to be decided in Monza

Date:

ACI Rally Monza (04-06 December) has been confirmed as the final round on the FIA Junior WRC Championship.

On a Covid-19-shortened calendar, the trip to Monza will mark the Junior WRC’s first outing on asphalt this season, following on from Rally Sweden, Rally Estonia and Rally Italia Sardegna.

One and a half times points will be on offer to all Junior WRC drivers who have competed in at least two rounds of the championship this year, which leaves the title-race wide open. Additionally, drivers who have competed in the previous three rounds, will drop their worst result of the year.

Currently, Latvia’s Martins Sesks holds a 10-point advantage over 2019 runner-up Tom Kristensson. A further four points down the ladder in third spot is Finland’s Sami Pajari.

“We are doing everything we can to ensure the 2020 FIA Junior WRC Championship will compete on four rounds this season,” explained Junior WRC Team Director Maciej Woda. “I need to thank everybody at ACI, FIA and WRC Promoter for working very hard and quickly to allow us to continue the championship, especially while we have a very exciting fight between our top-three competitors.”
