Bahrain Raid Xtreme enters three car team in Baja Aragon

Date:

Bahrain Raid Xtreme (BRX) is entering three Prodrive Hunter T1 cars in the Baja Aragon in July.  Sebastien Loeb and Nani Roma will be joined by the reigning champion, Argentinian Orlando Terranova, who will make his debut in the Hunter.

Both Terranova and Roma have extensive experience of the event, with Roma having won it nine times, coming second to Terranova in 2019 (the last time the event was held).  It will be the first time on the event for Loeb, and his first competitive outing with his new co-driver Fabian Lurquin.  Roma will be reunited with Alex Haro; the pair won the Aragon Baja together in 2015; while Terranova will be navigated by co-driver Daniel Oliveras.

Terranova is a very experienced and successful cross-country rally driver having won the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas in 2019 and having competed in the Dakar 15 times, winning five stages and finishing in fifth place overall twice.

Orlando Terranova said: “This is a big and important step for me and I am really excited to be joining a new team. I know Nani well and we have talked a lot about the ambitions of Prodrive and BRX to become a major player in cross country rallying. I want to learn from the team and am looking forward to working with my new teammates, Seb and Nani, but also competing against them.”

The team will run a pre-event test for all three cars and crews in Aragon in the week leading up to the Baja, which is on 22-24 July. It will be the first time Loeb and Roma will have driven the Hunter since the Dakar and will mark the beginning of the BRX team’s test and event programme as it builds towards Dakar 2022.

“Orlando is a great talent with a vast amount of cross-country and Dakar experience,” said BRX team director David Richards. “This experience will be invaluable as we continue to develop the Hunter throughout 2021.  After the promising result in the Dakar in January, we very much have our target set on a debut win in Aragon with all three drivers very capable of achieving this.”
