Al-Rajhi, Terranova and Ten Brinke big losers of the day

Yazeed Al-Rajhi, Orlando Terranova and Bernhard Ten Brinke came in together around 15th place. The three contenders for the final podium conceded 20-odd minutes to Carlos Sainz today.

Meanwhile, Sébastien Loeb was probably hoping to do better in his Dakar comeback. The man from Alsace had a torrid opening stage and conceded over 24 minutes to the winner. He has his work cut out for him to reduce this deficit if he is to fight for victory in the Dakar.
