Adrien Fourmaux prepares for Italy with Rallylegend win

Adrien Fourmaux enjoyed the perfect Rally Italia Sardegna (8 – 11 October) warm-up with his maiden victory aboard a Ford Fiesta World Rally Car at Rallylegend on Sunday (4 October).

The British-based M-Sport Ford World Rally Team made a very worthwhile detour from its journey to the Italian island for this week’s WRC encounter to take in the popular San Marino event.

Despite the three-day all-asphalt rally being his first in a World Rally Car, Fourmaux delivered a faultless performance to win nine of the 12 stages and a commanding victory.

“It was fantastic to drive this car for the first time,” said Fourmaux. “The stages were really nice and challenging in some places. I like the event as well, it’s been a nice atmosphere and a nice weekend.”

M-Sport Ford team principal Richard Millener oversaw Fourmaux’s victory. He added: “It’s fair to say the competition wasn’t quite as fierce as it might have been, but Adrien did a very good job in getting himself up to speed with the car – these are not easy things to jump in and drive – and then delivered a very solid performance.”

Arriving in Alghero on the back of that win, the 25-year-old is now searching for his maiden WRC 2 success, having finished second on three of the four rounds he has started in M-Sport’s Ford Fiesta R5 evo this season.

The WRC 2 class is finely balanced with Fourmaux just 14 points down on leader Pontus Tidemand. The Swedish Škoda driver is five points ahead of Citroën’s Mads Østberg. The former Rally Portugal winner is seen as the real danger man with three wins from three starts aboard his C3 R5.
